Last weekend was a weekend to remember. Sue (and her friend Melissa) were out visiting Australia again and I was one of the lucky ones to have her visit my shop to teach!
We ran a 1-day workshop where everyone worked on a needle roll (more on that to come), and a 2-day workshop where everyone worked on their individual journey with 'Tree of Life'. We ran them out of the church hall up the road from my shop which luckily was quite warm, considering the weather was anything but!
Below shows a few of the girls stitching away. It was a wonderful day of sharing ideas....
Here is the whole group of us from the 2-day workshop. I can't wait to see the quilts all complete - maybe next year??! Sue is on the far right if you were wondering...
I find Sue so inspirational with her use of wools, silks, fabrics and embellishments. Everything is so experimental and there is a sense of freedom in her techniques. More can be seen on her blog - Sue's Blog. Below are some flowers created from last years group. Sue's wallhanging is below - don't you just LOVE her use of colour and stitches? The two photos further down are from Elizabeth and Kylie who brought back their wall hangings to share. SO many great ideas!!
I was feeling the dunce of the class from last years visit. I started making a quilt and didn't get very far, so it ended up being a bag, just so I had SOMETHING to show Sue on her return this year!!
Yes - I completed it about a week before her arrival - oops - at least it was incentive for me to pull myself together!
Maybe I can add a little more embellishment now.... a few beads perhaps......
I'll write again soon
