Hi Everyone,
I was approached by Crabapple Hill Studio a while ago to create a block for a charity quilt for the Susan G Komen Foundation (the largest breast cancer research organization in the USA). The theme is "Forget Me Knot", to remember women who've survived (and not survived) breast cancer. I'm sure that most of you have been touched by breast cancer somewhere along the way. My mother-in-law suffered from this disease and passed away over 10 years ago. And I know she always hoped someone could find a cure. The complete quilt will be shown at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2009. It will also travel with Quilts Inc to as many events as possible to raise funds, and will eventually be auctioned/sold.
Other designers making a block for the quilt are Meg Hawkey (from Crabtree Hill Studio), Eleanor Burns, Teri Christopherson (Black Mountain Quilts), Verna Mosquera (The Vintage Spool), Anne Sutton (Bunny Hill Designs), Brenda Riddle, Barrie Sue Gaudet (Bareroots), Brenda Ryan, Denise Sheehan, Virginia Cole, Amy Butler.....etc. I can't wait to see the completed quilt - hopefully I'll have a photo to send you in the not too distant future.
Here is a photo of the block I have sent. I wanted it to be a reflection of my Angel Story Quilt - one of my most popular designs, so it would be recognisable as my own block in this project.
Here’s hoping for a cure soon!!
