Steam Punk Wedding

We have just arrived home from a weekend of fun and wonder!

Pete's cousin Oliver and his wife-to-be Liz decided to do something a little different for their wedding and went with a Steam Punk theme. If you don't know, this theme is derived from what the world would be like if the world was without the power of the atom being discovered. The world would be very machanised with a Victorian-Punk Gothic look. After a bit of research, my clan went shopping in all the second hand stores and came up with some fun things that with a little adaption, came to look around the right style ready to go...

The wedding itself was held in the Sawtell Picture theatre so everyone had a great seat to see everything, and then we could partake in the candy bar afterwards - can't beat that! Sorry I can't show you the bride and groom saying there vows - just much too dark to take a good photo from where I was sitting!
Just take a look at Liz's boquet - all the lights were lit in a magical display!

The reception was in the Bellingen Hall and reminded me of a Madhatter's Tea Party with two long tables, and no two things matching, candelabras, velvet armchairs, whimiscal lighting and music - just amazing!

Also amazing was, when you entered, you were given a gorgeous bag to fill (a bit like a treasure hunt) with badge, egg of flower seeds (seed bombs) and a moutache (of course, thankfully optional wear!!)

...and look at how the menus were folded!!

I think this will be a hard wedding to top! Thanks Oliver and Liz for putting in SO much effort and detail to WOW us and treat us to a night of spectacular wonder.

Rest and Relaxation

Just as quickly as they started, sadly the holidays have ended. My family and I have had a fabulous (albeit FAST) holiday down in Bright, Victoria. Like most of the state, we had rain for the first couple of days, so decided to visit the famous historic town of Beechworth and the incredibe lollie shop where I happened upon the delicious chocolate coated honeycomb; the same honeycomb Jenny had shared with us at the Nowra retreat....yummo...we were all in there for AGES and went away laden (oops).

The rest of our time down there the sun shone! Luckily, the reason we went to Bright was to do some excercise in the form of bikeriding (get rid of those lollie hips ;). If you didn't know, the bike tracks around there are amazing (although I think Tim thought they were a little too long heeho). Everything was so lush and glorious to see.

We stayed in a cabin and I must say it was hard to leave. We overlooked a river, and we could have fires in the fire pit just outside our door. We had roasted marshmellows every evening - oops - we probably needed to do twice as much bikeriding to counteract our sugar intake!!

In Bright township is Amanda's shop 'Country Heart and Home'. I think I visited this shop every day while we were there - I just couldn't keep away!! She must have had a complex though, as I don't think I looked at her once - too busy looking at every nook and on every shelf - what a feast for the eyes! I have my gorgeous bike-riding gear on as we had spent most of that day riding around (luckily I'm not into lycra, otherwise this pic would have been even worse!), so you must excuse my attire.

I am now feeling well rested and can feel those fingers tingling ready to get back into the designing!
