Back on the 23rd of July I gave you a sneak peak of the American Quilt Aid Block-of-the month program. Well now I know more!!! This is my block....
This is part of a charity quilt BOM of which you can find out more on the Quilt Aid website. There are six Australian designers and six American designers, who have all designed one block each. There are six American shops who each have two blocks to sell (one Australian and one American). Each of these shops have made up a finishing kit using all 12 blocks, so once you have collected each set of blocks from each shop, you can choose how to complete your quilt and order the finishing kit through them. Whew - I hope I explained that all well enough!
The most important part of the BOM is that it is being run to raise money for the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia. The hospital is dedicated to the treatment and care of women who suffer horrendous childbirth injuries known as 'obstetric fistula', and relies totally on donations to fund its vital work, which can't be easy!
Below are all the blocks which will appear in each quilt.... I hope you can participate to help with the cause - should be lots of fun stitching too!
