My mother turned the ripe young age of 70 this month, and of course I had NO IDEA of what to buy her. I would have loved to make her a quilt, but never seem to have a huge amount of time. My mother and I are very similar in that we love practical presents (much to the dismay of Pete hee hee), so in the end I settled on some doormats (whey-hey, watch out mum!) - they were a little lovely with images on them, so a bit more special than the norm.
I thought you may like to see what I made to go with them though, as I HAD to make her SOMETHING!!!! I am loving purses at the moment, so made her one using Pete's hand-dyed wool to make it a little more personal. Inside I stitched a few words to remind her of us every time she used it (no, it didn't say "DON'T SPEND MONEY", as dad would probably have preferred haha)
I'm now off on holiday for awhile (YAYAYAY), so will write upon my return.
