Pete and I have yet again been roaming the world, or more correctly, USA again! The last few times we have flown over there, we have found ourselves at the Fall Market in Houston, so this year we thought we'd switch things around and do the Spring Markets for a change so we can see a leeeetle bit more of America.
This year, Spring Market was held in Minneapolis. I was expecting rolling hills, so was surprised to find everything totally flat! It is gorgeously green and the city itself seems like a large Metropolitan town that never sleeps. There are lakes everywhere, not to mention squirrels - Pete and I found five of these cute creatures all in the parklands around the city. I guess Americans view them as pests, but I was transfixed. I have many photos of grass and tree trunks where the squirrels were just a second before - ho hum, I will have to sharpen my photographic skills!
We had a day before Market to see what the city had to offer. We walked through tree-lined streets with the most beautiful timber houses. We went to Minnehaha Falls, a very picturesque area full of bike tracks and parklands, and we crossed the great Mississippi which was just a stone throw away.
We ventured over to the Mall of America, the largest shopping centre in the world, which is a consumers paradise. It was a sight to see with an amusement part in the centre complete with roller coasters! My son is obsessed with Lego, so I was excited to see a two storey high Lego heaven. I just wish Tim could have seen it, as seeing is believing!
The following days were spent working (working??) at the wholesale show. I will post more on that tomorrow.....
